LOS FRESNOS—Last Friday, Los Fresnos coach Scott Ford felt as though the Falcons were nowhere near the team they should be.
Ford expressed concern that his teams’ four turnovers against The Monitor’s No. 3 San Benito Greyhounds in last week’s 38-35 victory didn’t justify their No. 2-ranking. He just didn’t feel the Falcons were playing to their potential.
Whether Los Fresnos is peaking or has yet to peak, voters across the state felt the Falcons were playing at least like the 10th best team in the state. The Associated Press released their weekly poll Monday with the Falcons securing the No. 10 spot in Class 5A—making them the second program in the Valley in the AP’s state poll.
La Villa broke into the Top 10 two weeks ago in Class A and continue to hold down that spot.
